How to Bid Online ProjectBoats.nets online auctions are
currently conducted on www.ebay.com. To bid, you must be registered with Ebay (see link
below). Registration is free and easy. Information required is your name, address, phone
number, e-mail address and a password, which you select.
After registering you will be sent a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours which will
direct you to accept Ebays auction terms and conditions. After clicking on the acceptance button, you will
be authorized to bid. Ebay requires ID verification to accept bids over $15,000. Click here for details.
Tip: Unlike live auctions, which terminate when there are no more bids, auctions on Ebay terminate at a preset time. ProjectBoat.nets auctions generally terminate 7 days after they start. To protect yourself from being outbid in the final seconds with no time to respond ("sniping"), we recommend you use automatic proxy bidding. Under proxy bidding, you set the maximum amount you wish to bid and the Ebay computer will bid on your behalf only the amount necessary to win the current bid, up to the maximum you set. This has the added advantage that you can win the bid even if you are not at your computer when the auction ends. If relying on proxy bidding, you should set the true maximum you are willing to bid. Only the Ebay computer knows your maximum and it will only bid the minimum increment necessary to win the bid so you are in no danger of bidding more than necessary.
